Roughing the Center?!?!?!?
I was watching the Stanford-Notre Dame game Saturday afternoon, no score, 1st Quarter, the Cardinal punting it away. Irish PR Vontez Duff receives the kick and returns the punt, in spectacular fashion, 92 yards for a Touchdown. Before the kick, however, there was a penalty flag thrown in the vicinity of the center position. The refs explaination is "roughing the center, on the defense, 15 yards, automatic 1st Down" a personal foul in other terms, thus Stanford retains possession. After seeing the replay I could not understand why it was called, maybe the ref should've said "personal foul" not "roughing the center" which I have never heard in the history of our world. All that seemed to have taken place was the center finishing off a block, there wasn't any evidence to warrant the call. Stanford would score on the drive, rather easily, to go up 7-0. In the end Notre Dame Won 31-7 piling it on in the 2nd half with tremendous defensive play.

Tyrone Willingham - who was Stanford's coach for the past seven years - joins Frank Leahy, Ara Parseghian and Jesse Harper as the only full-time Notre Dame coaches to open 5-0 in their first seasons at the school.

Of Note: Arkansas and Tennessee played 6 Overtimes in which the Vols won 41-38, change the OT rules to Pro format.......Syracuse embarrassed by Pittsburgh at the Carrier Dome 48-24, ending the Panthers 11 game losing streak to the Orangemen. Time to fire Pasqualoni, he should've been out a long time ago.
