Updated Playoff Picture
With the Dolphins expected choke at Minnesota, the Bills playoff hopes have opened alittle bit more.
  • Sunday at 1pm Eastern time the Bills must obviously defeat the Packers at Lambeau, Green Bay is due for a loss.
  • 2-way game: San Diego at Kansas City, 1pm Eastern time. If SD wins they must lose the next week to Seattle in San Diego. If KC wins they need to lose at Oakland the next week. IMO and a majority agrees that the Bills need the Chiefs to win this game and then lose to the Raiders in week 17.
  • Following that, Denver must lose at Oakland, gametime 4:15 Eastern. Plain and simple.
  • 2-way game: Cleveland at Baltimore 4:15pm Eastern time. The Bills don't need the Ravens to win this game but a Baltimore victory coupled with a Steelers loss Monday night would make the Balt.-Pitt. game next week of no concern. If Pitt. wins, the Ravens would fall to 8-8, while Pitt. wins the Division. If the Ravens win, they win the Division and Pitt falls to 8-7-1. If the Browns win, they must lose to Atlanta the following week or they can win while the Steelers lose to the Bucs and Ravens. So the former scenario is obviously the way to go, wouldn't you say? hmm Brian talkin' to yourself again, this is not healthy Brian, although you take Metamucil and Senekot everyday. Metamucil lowers cholesterol. I'm hallucinating. Moving on.
  • At that point, drunk as hell and much heartburn, turn your inebriated state to yet another 2 way game (almost as good as a 3-way): Patriots-Jets Sunday night at 8:00pm Eastern time on ESPN. If the Jets win, the Patriots-Dolphins game in week 17 is not a concern unless there is a tie, as whoever loses drops below Buffalo. While the Packers would need to defeat the Jets at the Meadowlands, the Packers may not be playing for much at that point following their loss to the Bills thus dropping out of the Homefield race in the NFC. If the Patriots win, the Jets are entirely out of the picture while leaving the Patriots needing to defeat the Dolphins in the last week of the season. I go with the Pats to defeat the Jets, Dolphins choke as is their trademark, I tell ya.
  • In summary, the advantageous scenario, Bills win out, Pats win out, Dolphins lose, Jets lose to NE, KC win and lose, SD lose to KC, Denver lose out, Baltimore win out, Bucs defeat Steelers. If all this happens, along with the Bills defeating the hapless, pathetic Bengals, it will all come down to the Arizona Cardinals somehow defeating the Denver Broncos at Sun Devil Stadium in the last week of the season.

    The Bills are in.
