Feast Week
It was an incredible week in sports or as ESPN dubs it 'Feast Week'. The 15 round shootout at the Garden in which the New York Rangers finally were able to defeat the Washington Capitals 3-2. Marek Malik scored the goal of his life against Olag Kolzig to win it for the Rangers. Earlier that same day at the Garden NY Knicks rookie guard Nate Robinson hit a fadeaway 3 pointer at the Buzzer in overtime to defeat Philadelphia 105-102. At the Maui Invitational, Michigan State and Gonzaga staged a 3 overtime heavyweight fight. Adam Morrison (43pts) and Marcus Ager (36pts) went blow for blow. In the end Gonzaga was able to outlast the Spartans 109-106. At the Great Alaska Shootout Championship game, South Carolina and Marquette staged a heavyweight fight into overtime. Marquette Forward Ryan Amoroso was unstoppable under the boards and hitting from outside. The UC Irvine Anteaters coming back from a 58-27 deficit early in the 2nd half against Pepperdine. They cut the lead to 3 but came up short on a game tying 3 pointer at the buzzer, losing 79-76. A great effort in the 2nd half by the Anteaters. If only they played for 40 minutes that way they would've won by 62! No I don't know. In the Preseason NIT, the Drexel Dragons played competitve ball against powerhouses Duke and UCLA, also lose to the Ivy League Pennsylvania Quakers on Saturday. The West Virginia Moutaineers, remembered for their NCAA Tournament run in March, losing to Texas (in a highly competitive game) and Kentucky at the Guardians classic and losing once again to the LSU Tigers at home on the day they retired Jerry Wests jersey. The NFL, St. Louis at Houston, Harvard Grad St. Louis Rams backup QB Ryan Fitzpatrick coming off the bench to lead a monumental 21pt comeback (including 10pts in the last 30 seconds) against the woeful 1-10 Houston Texans, final St. Louis 33 Houston 27. San Diego All World Running Back LaDanian Tomlinson posterizing that Washington Redskins Safety on his way to the end zone for the Chargers GW Touchdown in Overtime, final San Diego 23 Washington 17. In Seattle, the Division leaders New York Giants and Seattle Seahawks also went into Overtime. Giants Kicker Jay Fuckin' Feely missing 3!!!!!!!! Field Goals, whereas the Seahawks kicker Josh Brown, albeit a shorter kick than Feely had to face, kicked the GW FG sending the Giants home losers, final Seahawks 24 Giants 21. In Cincinnati, Chad Johnson displaying great skills but more obnoxious antics as the Bengals roll the Ravens 42-29. That guy is fucking annoying now. It started with Deion Sanders, Terrell Owens brought to an even more obnoxious level and now Chad Johnson is a fucking media whore. Who the fuck next? What the fuck next? In Tennessee, it is great to see a class guy like Alcorn State alum Steve McNair put up the performance he did against the pitiful San Francisco 49ers. McNair threw for 343yds and 3 Touchdowns in a Titans 33-22 victory. McNair has always been a favorite. In Florida, the Gators stomped the Seminoles 34-7 in the swamp to declare complete dominance in the interstate matchup. In Syracuse, the Bucknell Bison showed once again they are a team to be respected. The Bison rolled the Orange 74-69 at the Carrier dome a season following their victories over Pittsburgh and Kansas. In Kansas City, how the mighty have fallen. New England Quarterback Tom Brady, who may jinxed by those awful commercials with his offensive linemen, throwing 4 interceptions 3 by that 1 dude. Trent Green finding Dante Hall for a big score against a depleted NE secondary as the Chiefs hammer the Patriots 26-16. In Buffalo, the Bills lose again, Panthers pull it out late, Losman throws INT late. In Tampa Bay, the Bucs and Bears grind it out, slug it out, heavyweight battle royale at Raymond James Stadium. Once again, a case of lousy kicking as Bucs kicker Matt Bryant blew a short game tying field goal to send the Bears home victorious 13-10. Alex Brown was a fuckin beast out there, the Bears defense is unmatched in the NFL today. In Arizona, a shocker, the Cardinals lose again, Jags Win. Leftwich out for possibly 2 months which would be the entire season, tough break for the Jaguars. In NY, the Saints WIN?!?!? defeating the Jets 21-19 on ESPN Sunday Night Football. Should be a good Monday Nighter Pittsburgh at Indianapolis, wow, unbelieveable. Colts 29 Steelers 18 Final I say. In Minnesota, the Vikings are white hot improving to 6-5 and in the playoff race with a 24-12 victory over the woeful awful Cleveland Browns. In Oakland, the Dolphins defeat the Raiders, this isn't 1974 so noone cares about that game. In Palo Alto, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish gave all their fight and came out victorious in a straight dogfight (fucking straight dogfight) 38-31 over the Stanford Cardinal in the last game at Stanford Stadium.
