The #1 Duke Blue Devils face the the #2 ranked Texas Longhorns at 1:30pm Eastern Time on CBS. It is the first time since 1998 (when #2 North Carolina throttled #1 Duke 97-73, I remember that game, Vince Carter and Antawn Jamison tore up the joint baby!!!!!!!!!)a 1 has faced a 2 in the NCAA Division I College basketball regular season. There hasn't been a 1 vs 2 this early on the CB calendar since the 1975-76 season when #1 Indiana defeated #2 UCLA en route to the Hoosiers undefeated championship season, the last team to finish undefeated. The game will be played, at the Meadowlands in New Jersey, where #1 ranked teams have won 14 of the 22 games against #2s on neutral courts. #2 ranked teams have won the last 4 games against #1 ranked teams including the North Carolina Tar Heels victory over the Illinois Fighting Illini in the National Championship last April.

Update: Well this was wishful thinking on my part. Respect to the #1 ranked Duke Blue Devils as they hammered the #2 ranked Texas Longhorns 97-66, JJ Redick hit 9 3's on 16 attempts finishing with 41pts. 1 game, however, does not make a season. So be cautious with the premature celebration. They haven't won anything yet. They were lucky to squeeze by Virginia Tech. Just 1 well played game in December.
